US diesel is getting more valuable overseas at the exact time US supplies are getting tighter.

America exported a record 54.2 million barrels of diesel and gasoil in August. Russia just extended its export restrictions. The diesel crack hit almost $100 a barrel. And the Gulf Coast price jumped 27 cents in one day.

 US Gulf Coast diesel hits an all-time record

US Gulf Coast ULSD reached $4.6973/gallon, up 27.17 cents in one day. S&P Global says this is the highest level since its assessments began in 2006.

 At the same time, the diesel crack spread hit an all-time record of $98.153/barrel.

 US diesel inventories fall for the fourth straight week

EIA data showed US ULSD inventories fell to 93.59 million barrels for the week ending August 21.

That’s the fourth consecutive weekly decline.

And this is happening before the full winter heating season arrives.

Russia extends its diesel export ban through September 30

Russia extended restrictions on diesel exports while the US diesel market was already tightening.

That matters because the global diesel market is losing supply at the same time US inventories are falling.

(The US is still exporting diesel to Japan so they don't sell Treasury bonds and break the US economy. )

The eastern Pacific is doing something remarkable. By the end of this week, three hurricanes could be active at the same time, an extraordinary burst of tropical activity being driven by a historically strong El Niño and very warm ocean temperatures.

Hurricane Karina rapidly intensified into a Category 4 major hurricane over the weekend, over 1000 miles west of Baja, California. Tropical Storm Lowell is expected to reach hurricane strength as early as Monday night and could move toward Hawaii.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Marie is expected to turn into Hurricane Marie soon.

And the San Francisco Chronicle is admitting that “some forecast models” are projecting that the storm could end up “slowly moving northward into southern California next Monday”…

The upside momentum comes as Wall Street increasingly warns that a perfect storm of factors, from El Niño and higher fertilizer and diesel prices to disruptions in the Black Sea and the Strait of Hormuz, could push the global food system toward another crisis.

FBI Now Says Past Prostitution And Theft May Not Disqualify Applicants

The FBI has reportedly loosened some of its automatic disqualifiers for prospective employees, allowing applicants with certain past conduct to be considered on a case-by-case basis, according to The Times Of India.

Under the revised standards, previously hiring a sex worker is no longer necessarily disqualifying. Applicants may still be eligible if it happened fewer than three times and the most recent incident was more than 10 years ago.

The change partly accounts for cases in which prostitution was legal where it occurred. However, soliciting prostitution while holding certain positions of trust, including jobs in law enforcement, education, health care, finance or law, can still result in automatic rejection.

  The Times of India article says that past theft from an employer may also be overlooked if it occurred more than three years ago.

The FBI has also reportedly changed how it treats incidents involving bestiality or animal cruelty, allowing consideration when the conduct occurred before the applicant turned 18.
