As France Burns, NYC Council Moves to Bar NYPDs Strategic Response Group from Protests

 Three days before rioters in France burned Limoges’ city hall, damaged roughly 3,000 businesses, and injured 997 police officers and gendarmes, a New York City bill to bar the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group (SRG) from responding to protests gained majority support. The Communities United to Reject Brutality (CURB) Act secured its 26th sponsor on October 14 in the 51-member Council.

AIPAC to halt direct campaign contributions and candidate endorsements

 The American Israel Political Affairs Committee has announced that it will no longer make direct campaign contributions or endorse candidates, instead focusing on mobilizing individual donors.

The pro-Israel lobby disclosed the change in a letter to its members on Wednesday, as first reported by Jewish Insider. The letter stated that the lobby would still operate its super PAC, the United Democracy Project, which was launched alongside AIPAC’s PAC in 2021, ahead of the 2022 midterms.

The strategy shift occurred in an increasingly tense environment in which AIPAC has become a boogeyman among many progressive politicians – particularly among members of the Democratic Socialists of America in their Democratic congressional campaigns.

IRAN DESTROYS U.S. STRIKE PLAN AS YEMEN ACQUIRES KHAIBAR SHEKAN MISSILES TO STRIKE ISRAEL

 Iran’s IRGC have implemented an intensive strike strategy in the Strait of Hormuz, changing the nature of their conflict with the United States, while working alongside their regional allies to create new conditions on the ground. In this Monday’s episode of The Target looks at the shifts in the power balance and the battle-front in Yemen.

The United States has issued warnings to its citizens, through 11 different embassies and missions across West Asia, all as Israel signals its intent to launch yet another attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran. Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has been running military drills and testing new variations of its ballistic missiles, announcing publicly that it will use new weapons that have not previously been revealed if they are subjected to yet another US-Israeli aggression.

The Yemeni Armed Forces managed to shoot down an AH6i Helicopter over the border area with Saudi Arabia, in an embarrassing affair that exposed Riyadh’s denial propaganda. Yemen initially announced that they had shot down an Apache Helicopter. Because they misidentified the kind of aircraft, their Saudi opponents believed that they had scored an opportunity to create a damage control narrative.

Saudi Arabia then went on to announce that the helicopter, an AH6i, had simply malfunctioned and in the midst of admitting that the two pilots had died. Yemen’s Ansarallah-led government waited to allow Saudi propagandists to begin bragging about exposing their alleged lies, before releasing footage of them shooting the helicopter down and admitting that they had misidentified the aircraft initially.

US Air Force outlines the fighter fleet it needs by 2035

 The U.S. Air Force says it needs 1,509 combat-coded fighters, or jets assigned to combat units, by 2035, according to a new force structure report the service sent to Congress Oct. 16.

Lt. Gen. David Tabor, the Air Force’s deputy chief of staff for plans and programs, described the report at an Oct. 20 Pentagon roundtable with reporters, Air & Space Forces Magazine reported. Reporters did not receive a copy of the report, and the service did not respond to a Defense News request for it by publication.

F-35s would make up about 40% of the fleet by 2035, up from about 30% today, according to figures Tabor cited. F-22s and their replacement, the F-47, would make up about 20%. The service plans to replace its F-22s with about the same number of F-47s, Tabor said.
