Authorities believed that Lipps had defrauded a series of North Dakota banks. That’s because the West Fargo Police Department had fed a photo ID used by the suspect into Clearview AI—a database with billions of pictures, many scraped from the internet, intended to aid law enforcement investigation. Lipps had been flagged as a match.
But the Tennessee grandmother had never even been to North Dakota.

Non-profit think tank Ceres has published a new report analyzing the water used to generate electricity for data centers across Virginia, Texas, California, Illinois, Georgia, Ohio, and Arizona.
Ceres estimates data centers use 3.4 trillion gallons of freshwater a year, or 10.4 million acre-feet.
Bloomberg Law’s Bobby Magill compared that unfavorably against the 8 million acre-feet California uses annually for urban purposes, a figure from a 2021 Legislative Analyst’s Office report.

An AI-Designed Drug Just Moved Six Different Aging Clocks At Once
Developed by Insilico Medicine, the drug - rentosertib - was initially engineered to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a progressive, age-associated lung-scarring disease. When researchers analyzed blood samples from a Phase IIa clinical trial, they applied six proteomic profiling "aging clocks" among 42 participants. All six detected reductions in predicted biological age, whereas the placebo group showed little change or slight increases. The most pronounced and consistent effects emerged around week four of treatment.
The study was authored by Insilico with academic collaborators from Harvard, Stanford, the Broad Institute, RWTH Aachen, Peking University and Westlake University.
Insilico used AI not only to identify a specific enzyme (TNIK) linked to both fibrosis and aging pathways, but also to generate and optimize the specific molecule designed to inhibit it. That dual application makes rentosertib a rare clinical test of AI uncovering a target case and building new therapeutics from scratch.
In the earlier Phase IIa, patients in the 60mg once-daily arm recorded a mean improvement in forced vital capacity of 98.4 milliliters against a mean decline of 20.3 milliliters on placebo. FVC declines with age in healthy people over 65 at roughly 20 to 50 milliliters a year, which is why Insilico treats it as a physiological aging marker as well as an efficacy endpoint.

Beckman then defended Harp and blasted the press for its obsession with tabloid-style rumors about the Trump family instead of real reporting.

Harp, the 35-year-old special assistant to President Trump, has spent years flying under the radar as one of the president's most constant aides. "The media doesn't know about the first lady's private life. Period. The media doesn't know about the first family's life. Period," Beckman added. "And what they do is they harp on the issues of gossip rather than going ahead and covering the substantial achievements that this First Lady and the President also have conducted during this past year and a half."
It is the second time in three weeks Beckman has been deployed to answer for the first lady. Last month he went on "Fox & Friends" to explain why Melania had publicly denied any connection to Jeffrey Epstein, saying she had decided "enough is enough" and had "debunked all of the lies surrounding her and Epstein." The pitch was the same then as now: cover the accomplishments, drop the rumors.
Harp first caught Trump's eye in 2019 when she publicly credited his Right to Try legislation with opening the door to experimental treatment for bone cancer, the New York Times reports. She spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention, worked at One America News from 2020 to 2022, and joined the campaign before moving to the White House staff.
Beckman's remarks come after Trump gave sizable holiday gifts to four White House aides, including Harp, according to new financial disclosures released by the administration.
The gifts of $45,000 each to Harp, communications adviser Margo Martin, and deputy director of Oval Office operations Chamberlain Harris - as well as a $20,000 gift for director of Oval Office operations Walt Nauta - were noted in the staffers' annual financial disclosure forms published by the administration last week. The payments have drawn ethical and legal scrutiny over whether a president can make personal cash gifts of that size to his own employees.
