If one has three months for arts and crafts; making chainmail will keep one occupied. Plenty of how tos on youtube etal, it took me at least two spools of steel electric fence wire to make the rings required for a torso pull over. I made my rings on a 5/16" rod, making coifs is a real hoot look at a month to make one with full neck covering.

Get these kids some forges, coal, anvils seems they have a few hammers. Roam the streets and alleys for scrap metal pound out shield and sword, refight the English Civil War. Three showings each Saturday and Sunday. 3pound50pence entry fee babies and geezers free.
