Chinese invasion of Taiwan is not desirable and hardly even possible. The island is mountainous and only has a couple beaches.

China has zero reason to do this at all. They were doing great in their relationship with Taiwan, and both parties were talking about beginning the reunification process some time in the 2040s.

After Joe Biden took over, however, the US started going nuts with all kinds of threats, sending in military equipment, sailing warships in and out of Chinese territory, and so on. They did that lunatic weather balloon hoax.

Joe Biden has continually made claims about Taiwan’s “independence,” something no US president has done before.

So while there is literally no chance of a Chinese “invasion” (it would really be an annexation) of Taiwan, there is a risk of the US trying to create some kind of wacky incident.

Daily Express:

The US government is reported to be currently organising the evacuation of Americans living in Taiwan. According to themessanger.com, a senior US intelligence person who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to disclose the strategy, reported this evacuation planning has been ongoing for at least six months and has significantly increased over the last few months.

The official explained to the US outlet that the preparations have been prompted by a heightened level of tension, citing factors such as the visible build-up of forces and China’s alignment with Russia concerning the situation in Ukraine.

They also stressed that these developments are not beyond what is already reported in the news.

themessanger.com reported that a source with knowledge of the situation told them that the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 was a major factor in the planning for the evacuation.

The source claimed that “Ukraine drove a relook at what the plans were”.

Who knows if this is true. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything if it is. Many people in the US get their news from television, which is claiming that a Chinese invasion is imminent.

Given the way the Ukrainian spring offensive is going, the US is very quickly going to be in need of some kind of major distraction. No one would be totally surprised if that came in the form of some incident with China.

What’s more, the US is on a clock for doing something with Taiwan, because the population is rapidly shifting its support towards pro- Mainland policies, voting for the pro-reunification KMT.

Chinese invasion of Taiwan is not desirable and hardly even possible. The island is mountainous and only has a couple beaches.

That makes it harder, but China could pound the island with missiles to destroy it's defensive capability and then drop myriads of paratroopers on the island. What Taiwan needs is a law requiring firearms in every home, much as Switzerland did.

China has zero reason to do this at all. They were doing great in their relationship with Taiwan, and both parties were talking about beginning the reunification process some time in the 2040s.

I hardly see the relationship as "great" so long as China openly threatening to take the island by force, and any discussions about "reunification" on Taiwan's part are clearly made under duress. Taiwan doesn't need or want any governance from the CCP. Why would they? The country is doing great, far more prosperous than China. China has nothing to offer Taiwan and the drive for so-called "reunification" is based purely on greed and embarrassment of Taiwan's prosperity.
