We are entering a Grand Solar Minimum (GSM) which is a period when we can expect more earthquakes and volcanoes. The "Big Freeze happened during the Maunder Minimum (1645-1715.) There was an earthquake on Christmas day in 1699 during the Maunder Minimum. And 4 earthquakes on the same fault line during the Dalton Minimum (1790-1830.)
There is a reason why we can expect many more earth changes. The Sun becomes less magnetically powerful during a GSM. The Sun would normally pull cosmic rays (nuclear particles from distant stars) into itself. So during a GSM those nuclear particles are free to enter our atmosphere. Some of those cosmic rays become parts of clouds and increase our cloud cover which blocks sunlight and lowers temperatures reducing crop yields. The rest strikes the earth and energizes volcanoes and earthquakes.
Earthquakes can cause enormous financial losses. In America that would be on the New Madrid fault from Memphis to St Louis and hundreds of miles in the surrounding areas. The New Madrid quakes of 1811-1812 were felt in Indiana just over the border from Illinois.
I do not expect the US West coast to last much longer. People who have never experienced an earthquake do not seem to understand that the road you are driving down can be thrown 20 feet (6.1 meters.) All of that will be gone in large areas on the West Coast within seconds. 20 million people and no roads, no water, no sewers, no gasoline, no diesel, no railroads, no electricity, no fire department, no hospitals, no prisons and effectively no police.
