Rick Perry just can't catch a break.

The gaffe-prone Republican presidential candidate had another "oops" moment on Friday, when he flubbed the name of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor during a meeting with the Des Moines Register newspaper.

The interview became even more cringe-worthy when he misstated the number of justices.

The slipup happened as Perry criticized President Obama's two Supreme Court picks.

"When you see his appointment of two, from my perspective, inarguably activist judges, whether it was…" the Texas governor said before trailing off.

He paused for six seconds. "Not Montemayor," said Perry.

"Sotomayor," a member of the editorial board corrected.

"Sotomayor, Sotomayor," Perry chimed in.

He then went on to rip the "eight unelected and frankly unaccountable judges" who should not be making legislative decisions telling Americans how to live.

But nine justices sit on the Supreme Court; they are nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate.

Perry has made the Supreme Court operations a cornerstone of his "Uproot and Overhaul Washington" plan. In it, he calls for changing the life-long terms of Supreme Court justices to 18 years.

The blooper comes just before the struggling White House hopeful will take on his Republican rivals during a debate in Iowa on Saturday.

It also comes among a flurry of others verbal blunders, which have plagued the struggling White House hopeful's campaign. During a debate last month, Perry came under the microscope when he couldn't remember one of three federal agencies he pledged to ban if he was elected President.

"The third one. I can't. Sorry. Oops," said Perry.

And just Thursday, he had to correct himself after saying the U.S. was at war in Iran, instead of Iraq.
