Full operations are not yet online. The migration to the new server is more than a migration. The Pinguinite software is about 15 years old. Time does indeed fly. Upon installing it on to the latest linux distributions of Debian server software, some modular software packages that were relied upon 15 years ago are no longer supported so to get 4um online again, I've needed to upgrade it to utilize the more recent replacements of those independent modules. All in all, that it lasted 15 years it speaks well of linux in general! More upgrades are required to bring 4um completely back online. I suspect comments are not yet functional. The first step in xferring the 4um web site is underway, which is changing over the DNS servers. There shouldn't be any interruption of service as the new DNS servers point to the same web and mail servers as the previous DNS servers. Or they should.

Over the next week or 2, as I have time, the web site will be migrated to a new hosting service where I'll have complete control. 4um will be physically hosted in Tornoto with a web service provider I've been using for a number of years. If I do things right, then there will be just one scheduled interruption when the site is taken off line and the database migrated to the new server. Actually the title isn't entirely true because I've technically been the sheriff for a number of months already, since I received the blessing directly from the royal Christine herself! The article that was posted last week with the HTML in the title that screwed up the formatting here inspired me to take action. I've contacted Christine and after seeing that Critter and Artisan, who were both basically deputies of Christine have not posted in over a year, I asked and got Christine's blessing to take over 4um. She gave me the admin access to the site and I fixed the errant article, and I should have the hosting facility login credentials soon as well. Seeing how the site has been pretty much doing fine on autopilot, there won't be much to do.
