Things went kinda kablooie in a big sort of way today. A lot like the Hindinberg. The server was unrepairable and I had to do a complete restore from a backup made on Oct 16. But I was able to make a copy of the 4um DB first, which seems to have been intact, and after the server restore was complete, I reinstalled the DB, and now everything seems normal. It seems the cause may be a faulty update with the Debian Linux distro. Let me know if anything seems amiss.

Woke up this AM to see 4um was offline. It was giving some goofy error for some reason, but a reboot of the server apparently patched everything up. It may have been an extremely rare snafu and until there's evidence otherwise, of I'm presuming it was.

I finally got off my duff to fix the occasional problem of articles not posting properly, where the show up missing. I was aware of the youtube of the Russian guitarist who goes by the name "ДиДюЛя" that would not post. I determined that failure to be due to his name being too long for the DB. While it's only 6 Russian letters, converting that name to the HTML equivalent, which browsers do, results in a name is well over 40 characters, which is the max limit in the database. That causes the DB to reject the insert operation, and that results in the article being missing but otherwise appearing as a comment. I am certain that in the past, ...
