Bette Midlers solution to Americas baby formula crisis has caused outrage across the Twittersphere this week in what critics say was a tone-deaf suggestion by the actress and singer.

Bette, respectfully, this is a very bad take. I had twins. I didnt produce enough milk for both. Without formula, I would have had to have chosen which one got to eat. To say nothing of kids that get separated from the birth mothers very young, she tweeted.

I was a twin and my Mom used a breast pump to get enough milk for both of us. There is no reason to use a baby formula unless the mother has some sort of infection that prevents her breast feeding.
Besides all that, mother's milk contains anti-bodies the baby cannot produce on its own. And just exactly what did mothers do in the old days when there was no infant formula?
