Lewandowski: No Surprise Trump Is Cleaning House

(Fox News' "Fox & Friends")

It should not come as a surprise President Donald Trump is making some changes in the people around him as he prepares for his re-election bid, former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said Wednesday.

"Presidents do this all of the time, and the president has right to have the team around him that he thinks is best going to represent him and move his agenda forward," Lewandowski, who Trump fired during his 2016 presidential campaign, told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "I think you're going to see additional changes with some people in the Cabinet that are going to move on . . . I think it is right thing for the president right now."

The day after the midterm elections, Jeff Sessions turned in his resignation as attorney general, and this week, sources told The Washington Post that Trump is planning to fire Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

Lewandowski, who has continued to support the president, acknowledged working for him can be stressful.

"This president is a man who works 18 and 20 hours a day, every day, and doesn't give anybody a break," Lewandowski said. "He talked about this in his press conference last week. He said when people come into the White House they look young and leave looking old."

However, Lewandowski said Trump should surround himself with a team that understands elections, and also a team that is focused on policy.

Not too sure what Trump is doing to get energy at the age of 70, but what ever it is I want some of it.
