It is common in some nations for extended families to live together. They are used to having lots of people living in a small area. I always explain to Englishmen that the UK (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) has a total land area less than Wyoming. But UK has 65.3 million people. France has 66.2 million but is more than twice the size of the UK. Texas is bigger than France and the UK combined.
The point is that they don't have that much room to house all those immigrants. We don't have that much room in NYC and California which explains the high rents.

Not just invaders. England has been over populating since WW II with blacks from the Commonwealth to drive down wages. Croatia is an ancient country. It has 4.28 million people. America is 174 times bigger so would have 725 million people if we had the same people per acre. That would mean huge rents and home prices compared to our wages. Foreigners live with extended families.
