Jeff Cooper turned me onto a quote that I actually plagiarized and used at a town meeting once.
QUOTE: "Not only do I disagree with everything you said, but I'm thoroughly repulsed by the whimpering tones in which people like you express themselves."

Sorry, but the youtube insult outclasses this one by a mile. I've never heard one that comes close to Billy Madison's. Kept me laughing for a couple hours afterwards today!

He seemed to be in the position of moderator where he could hurl lightning bolts at others.
A quote that could be used in a public debate is more useful to me. (You know, we begin on an equal footing and the intelligence and wit rises to the top?)
It's also a bit presumptuous to state that "everyone in the room is dumber now". That could easily backfire if others disagreed and someone said, "No, you were already dumber than everyone when you got here".
What would you say then if everyone laughed for the first time when the joke is at your expense?
I'd prefer to represent only myself so I couldn't be dinged for the major faux pas of having prematurely spoken for others.
I sure can relate to it historically as if he was speaking to me
I'm sure you can...
LOL
"The real deal is this: the royalty controlling the court, the ones with the power, the ones with the ability to make a difference, with the ability to change our course, the ones who will live in infamy if we pass the tipping points, are the captains of industry, CEOs in fossil fuel companies such as EXXON/Mobil, automobile manufacturers, utilities, all of the leaders who have placed short-term profit above the fate of the planet and the well-being of our children." - James Hansen
Wife and I ran across this when I told her to look up the Miss South Carolina who totally screwed up that answer which was totally incoherent. Someone posted this clip after her comment. I knew I had to find it and post it here.

I heard a nice quote on the radio recently by a religious Christian person. Words to the effect that, "Yes, it's dark in these times but the Light is getting brighter."

Don't take the wrong way and get conceited about it, though. LOL
I wouldn't dream of it. Just to extend the spirit of Christmas and show that there's no hard feelings, I've found a video just for you. It has complete directions on how to lure your very own elves...

Good thinking. :)

In response to Miss South Carolina?
In that context it's just too phunnie!
I wonder if today she now knows enough to be embarrassed and ashamed?
I mean, even guys who wish for a dumb blond would pass on her!
Frankly, she shamed us all. When I think of the impression she left in other English speaking countries....
Years ago my former bass player from Tennessee said, "Thank God For South Carolina" when explaining how his state coped with being one off the bottom of academic achievement. And folks overseas must wonder how we can allow a sovereign state to deprive their citizens of the basic tools needed to survive in a modern, post-industrial society.
Would you let a brain surgeon from SC attempt a highly experimental procedure to remove a tumor from your brain?
I wonder if today she now knows enough to be embarrassed and ashamed?
I thought of that today too. It occurred to me that she is the most well known Teen pagent contestant of the decade. No one even remembers any of the others. She could take some good hearted satisfaction in that.

I think she's hot enough to not need brains.

We can all take some solice after this performance:
I guess this means I'm going to have stock up on apples and oranges to bribe those munchkins to show up and help me with chores. Thanks a bunch, FL. Like I don't have enough to do without carting extra stuff in before they even get here.

On a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.
